Race Program

Racing with AROSC HPD is wheel-to-wheel racing in the club sense, it is not a "blood sport". Our goal is to have fun competing with people driving cars with similar speed potential on the track to see who can get the the finish first. Our emphasis is on safe, clean racing. Car-to-car contact is delt with very agressively by our Directors. On a typical weekend, we run several practice sessions, a qualifying race and a final sprint race (about 12 laps). If the schedlule permits it in the late spring or early fall, we may also run an enduro of 2 to 2.5 hours in length.

All timing and scoring is done using an AMB transponder system whenever possible. Consequently, if you want to be scored you will need to have one mounted in your car. They are available direclty from AMB (TranX 2060) although they occasionally show up on eBay and sometimes one of our members has them for sale at reduced rates. We will not have any at the track to rent. You can race without a transponder but you will not be scored.

Time Trials, also know as Time Attack, is a speed event somewhat similar to autocross but with speeds which are considerably higher, a venue which usually a real race track rather than a cone-marked course in a parking lot and where are a number of cars on the course at the same time, all trying to get their best lap time. Yor are, however, competing against the clock for your best time rather then for position in front of the other cars. We almost always run two day, weekend events with practice on Saturday and on Sunday AM, and officially times runs in the last session on Sunday PM.

Our schedule includes events at places such as Willow Springs, Buttonwillow. We also occasionally run at Spring Mountain, Las Vegas and the Auto Club (formerly California) Speedway and Laguna Seca (when we can get a date). Assuming the recently anounced Chuckwalla Valley Raceway really happens, we will certainly run there as well.

More information on the requirements associated with participating in our TT program is available on this website as is some general information about the events. Detailed information is covered in our Competition Code.
